Two WiFi adapters with very different behaviors

I have two HP all in one computers - different models with different wifi adapters

Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi

Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn

First thing I noticed was the Realtek did not receive 5ghz wifi ... only 2.4ghz.

Second thing was that the Broadcom (situated quite a long way from the router) was much faster than the Realtek ... 35Mbps without a problem on both 2.4 and 5ghz. The Realtek (situated 2 yards from the router) struggles to get to my minimum 25Mbps.

Third, which is the most annoying, is the Realtek has a problem connecting to the router, first, second or susequent times. The Broadcom connects first time every time.

Anyone know anything about this. Can it be corrected with software updates ? etc

I don't have an answer, unfortunately, but I have an interesting WiFi scenario.  My older HP 6005 Pro SFF Desktop is using a Realtek USB WiFi adaptor.  It is about 18 feet from the router. It receives both the 2.4 and 5 GHz signals.  The 5 generally gets speeds of around 25 to 30 Mbps but will sometimes bump up to around 40.  The 2.4 only gets typically under 20.  My iPhone, at the PC location, will usually bang away just over 50.  I use AT&T internet rated at 50 Mbps.  My other desktop (Dell) plugged into the modem/router also consistently hits in the low 50's.  I have a Dell laptop with an Intel WiFi adaptor that also hits 50.

I posted earlier today about this HP that it cannot talk to both of the other computers, although it sees them.  They can talk to each other but not this HP.  All three are running Windows 10, version 1803.  I'm beginning to wonder about this Realtek adaptor.

Yes ... all these things are very confusing to the average user. There are probably good reasons for using the Realtek adapter but that reason is only obvious to the technical people who designed the computer.

I have one correction to the original post. The Broadcom on 2.4ghz is now only getting less than 2Mbs and at 5ghz still at 30+Mbps.
