The Ethernet adapter was being iffy and kept on dropping the connection so I decided to uninstall it and then restart my computer so it would reinstall but it did not.
I've tried a lot of things to reinstall it but I cannot find a solution here these are things I've tried(below Pic):
I would like to reinstall it manually ideally but I cannot find the Ethernet network adapter for my computer which is the HP Specter X360 16: Any solutions that aren't listed below are welcomed.The current state of my network adapters which is now missing the Ethernet
Check Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Look for the adapter under Network adapters.
- If it’s listed with a yellow triangle icon, right-click and choose Update driver.
Restart Network Services:
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Locate WLAN AutoConfig and Network Location Awareness services.
- Right-click each service, select Restart, and then try reinstalling the adapter.
Manually Install the Driver:
- Visit the manufacturer’s website and download the latest driver for your adapter.
- Right-click the uninstalled adapter in Device Manager and choose Update driver.
- Select Browse my computer for drivers, then navigate to the downloaded driver file.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.
Performed Cleanup of Network Devices:
- Open the Run window by pressing Windows key + R.
- Type “cmd” and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to open the Command Prompt in administrative mode.
- Execute the following command: netcfg -d
- Restart your computer to apply the changes.
Reset Winsock:
- Open the Command Prompt with administrative rights.
- Enter the command: netsh winsock reset
- Reboot your computer to save the changes.
Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager:
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run window.
- Type “devmgmt.msc” and hit Enter.
- In Device Manager, click on “View” in the menu bar and ensure “Show hidden devices” is checked.
Roll Back the Network Driver:
- Right-click the Windows button and choose Device Manager.
- Navigate to Network Adapter.
- Right-click the specific adapter and select Properties.
- Go to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver.
Check WWAN AutoConfig Service:
- Search for Services in the Start menu.
- Locate and open WWAN AutoConfig.
- Ensure the Service status is Running.
