The Ethernet adapter was being iffy and kept on dropping the connection so I decided to uninstall it and then restart my computer so it would reinstall but it did not.

I've tried a lot of things to reinstall it but I cannot find a solution here these are things I've tried(below Pic):

I would like to reinstall it manually ideally but I cannot find the Ethernet network adapter for my computer which is the HP Specter X360 16: Any solutions that aren't listed below are welcomed.The current state of my network adapters which is now missing the EthernetThe current state of my network adapters which is now missing the Ethernet

  1. Check Device Manager:

    • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
    • Look for the adapter under Network adapters.
    • If it’s listed with a yellow triangle icon, right-click and choose Update driver.
  2. Restart Network Services:

    • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
    • Locate WLAN AutoConfig and Network Location Awareness services.
    • Right-click each service, select Restart, and then try reinstalling the adapter.
  3. Manually Install the Driver:

    • Visit the manufacturer’s website and download the latest driver for your adapter.
    • Right-click the uninstalled adapter in Device Manager and choose Update driver.
    • Select Browse my computer for drivers, then navigate to the downloaded driver file.
  4. Check for Windows Updates:

    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.

      Performed Cleanup of Network Devices:

      • Open the Run window by pressing Windows key + R.
      • Type “cmd” and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to open the Command Prompt in administrative mode.
      • Execute the following command: netcfg -d
      • Restart your computer to apply the changes.
    • Reset Winsock:

      • Open the Command Prompt with administrative rights.
      • Enter the command: netsh winsock reset
      • Reboot your computer to save the changes. 
    • Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager:

      • Press Windows key + R to open the Run window.
      • Type “devmgmt.msc” and hit Enter.
      • In Device Manager, click on “View” in the menu bar and ensure “Show hidden devices” is checked.
    • Roll Back the Network Driver:

      • Right-click the Windows button and choose Device Manager.
      • Navigate to Network Adapter.
      • Right-click the specific adapter and select Properties.
      • Go to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver.
    • Check WWAN AutoConfig Service:

      • Search for Services in the Start menu.
      • Locate and open WWAN AutoConfig.
      • Ensure the Service status is Running.
