Since quite some time I have problems with my networkconnection. Speed is enormously lagging, really not workable, when f.i. I want to open my explorer it takes approx 5 minutes (really, not exaggerating) to open explorer because the networkcard is very slow in contacting the router and the server.
Also when checking my speed with Ookla Speedtest the speed on my husbands pc is way over 500 Mbps down but mine is only approx 90 Mbps, while we are both on wifi connected to the router and our internet is fibre.
I guess when I have problems ànd with the internetspeed ànd with the speed of connecting to any point in the network via explorer, it must be that something is wrong with my networkcard.
Ofcourse first thing is try to check whether I need an update of networkcard-drivers. When doing the online drivercheck I already get a weird thing that I can only enter that I'm on W11 version 21H2 but I'm working on W11 version 22H2.
I can pass that and try to do the online drivercheck . Sometimes the site keeps asking me to download and install the framework programm which I do and it gives an error and sometimes the site tells me that I have a critical update for the networkcard.
I have a Realtek RTM8822CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter, driverversion 2024.0.10.223 dated 21-5-2021. According to the site I have to update.
I tried to update my pc via the updatetool on the site, but that didn't work, the update programm starts, but gives 'there was an error updating'. Retried with viruscheck and firewall disabled but still no success.
So I downloaded the file, sp135844, manually because the download assistant of HP does not work, and started this file as administrator. It starts the wrapper, opens the CMD-box and says 'attempting to execute c:\SWSetup\SP135844\install.cmd
And then it closes the CMD box and everything is finished and nothing has changed.
My pc is only two and a half years old and I really don't want to buy another one, just because HP drivers cannot be updated like they should. At least to see whether this will help me with my problems in connections. But I must say that I'm very disappointed that after 2,5 years networkcards and updated are already no longer working in a HP pc.
Is there anybody who can help me perhaps to get my drivers updated again?

Hi:
This is the latest driver HP has for the Realtek Wi-Fi card your PC has:
2024.10.228.4 06/26/2023
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp148001-148500/sp148495.exe
The driver does what is called a 'silent install.'
A command window opens, stuff happens and then it just closes.
No report of success or failure is provided.
So, what you can do if the driver I just posted does the same thing, is to manually install the driver as follows:
Go to the device manager. Click to expand the Network adapters device manager category.
Click on the Realtek Wi-Fi adapter. Click on the driver tab.
Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp148495.
Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC.

Thank you for your help. I've downloaded the latest driver but I cannot see which version it should be.
Is it correct that running this disconnects the wifi-connection and then my pc says 'impossible to reconnect to the drive because the networkname is already in use'?
When I run the driver updater via the devices list in windows, pointing to the C-directory where the latest directory was made, Windows says that the latest optimal driver is already installed and does nothing anymore.
It shows now version 2024.10.228.4, is that the latest version, am I up to date now?

Anytime.
Glad to have been of assistance.
Yes, I would conclude that if the driver update does nothing to improve the wireless performance, the card may have a hardware issue.
Note that the RTL8822CE Wi-Fi card is not a very good quality card, and many forum members have issues with it.
Also, taking one of those all-in-one PC's apart to replace the Wi-Fi card will most likely be very difficult to do.
This person broke the screen when taking a different model all in one PC apart.
So, you may want to just use a decent performing dual band USB Wi-Fi adapter and use the onboard Realtek card for Bluetooth.
However, if you are adventurous, or you would take the PC to a reliable PC repair shop to replace the Wi-Fi card, I would get one of these Intel cards instead, because they are reliable, and would also be an upgrade to the Realtek one.
Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 AX + Bluetooth 5.2 M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part # M27269-005.
An alternative option (Wi-Fi 6, not 6E) would be this card:
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part #L35282-005.

Thank you, that is very helpfull. Indeed I was thinking about taking it to a repairshop because I once tried to replace a screen on a laptop and that didn't work out as it should at all, so no more trying out on laptops (AIO) for me. It's totally different from a tower (which, to be honest, I will buy next time again, also for this kind of issues).
I didn't know that there are USB adapters, could be a solution however this computer already has a lack of USB ports so I really have to reconsider this.
But I will also take a note of the cards you suggest and indeed, now that I have a Wifi 6 router. No idea whether it's 6 or 6E but now I'm on wifi 4 so it's always faster.
But for the moment it looks like updating did a good job, look at my speed difference. Opening explorer is quicker too, only connecting to the NAS with a programm like Acrobat or a photo-editor still takes longer, or like now I have to go to explorer to insert a screenshot. But I guess that's also related to the NAS.
Have a nice weekend!

You're very welcome.
Glad to know that updating the Wi-Fi driver to the latest version helped somewhat.
Yes, 500+ MBPS out of that model card is excellent.
The maximum throughput with the RTL8822CE would be 867 MBPS with all conditions being perfect.
You have a nice weekend too!
Cheers,
Paul
