Am I able to update the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller in my desktop PC to more than 100 Mbps? I am paying for 250 Mbps from my cable company, and for the last 2 years they could not figure out why. Today I discovered my network card caps out at 100 Mbps. How can I update that? Can I just download a driver for it? I know just enough to be dangerous, so any help would be very much appreciated.

Network adapter integrated to the motherboard I don't know your machine therefore I can say how easy to upgrade but you need soldering tool to do that (only if available/possible).
You need hardware, drivers won't help.
Options
- Install a PCIe network card to your machine, you need to check does it have spare slot ?
- Use USB - NIC adapter such as
https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-Aluminum-Portable-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B00PC07T02
They sell 1 to 7 or more USB ports.
