@Indomak -- is this your computer: HP EliteBook 840 G7 14" FHD NoteBook with Core i5 and 512 GB SSD - HP Store Canada

Under the "Connectivity" section of the "Technical Specifications", I do not see anything to indicate that there is any support for any SIM cards.  No support for either "telephone" or "data" cellular operations.

No please, that isn't my system.

My system is:

HP elite book folio

1040 G2

Core i5

8GB, 5th generation.

Waiting for your kind response, please.

@Indomak -- thank you for the clarification on your exact model-number, e.g. HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G2 Notebook PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

All I can do is to quote from that web-page:

Broadband wireless (WWAN)*
  • HP lt4211 LTE/EV-DO/HSPA+Gobi 4G+ Mobile Broadband Module *,**
  • HP lt4112 LTE/HSPA+ Qualcomm Gobi 4G Mobile Broadband Module *,**
  • HP hs3110 HSPA+ Mobile Broadband Module *
NOTE:
* WWAN modules are only available if preconfigured. WWAN connection requires wireless data service contract, network support, and is not available in all areas. Contact service provider to determine the coverage area and availability. Connection speeds will vary due to location, environment, network conditions, and other factors.

** 4 G LTE not available on all products, in all regions and requires Windows.

Mobile Broadband sold as an optional feature that must be factory installed.

Internal component upgrades to connectivity are not available after factory configuration.

---------------

So, did you purchase a model with the WWAN support?

Perhaps, while the socket for the SIM card exists, the rest of the supporting software is not installed.

I hope this helps.

Please help guide on how to install the needed  softwares that will enable cellular network.

Though I recently installed drivers for WWAN, but it's still not working.

@Indomak -- to repeat:

Mobile Broadband sold as an optional feature that must be factory installed.
Internal component upgrades to connectivity are not available after factory configuration.

So, if you purchased the computer with the optional hardware, you can use your SIM card.

Otherwise, there seems no way to add the feature to your current computer.
