HP All-in-One 24-f0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Our All-in-one lost the ability to connect to the wifi this morning. All other devices in the house have no trouble connected to the wifi and we have reset the router multiple times. Following other forums, I was able to find the wifi network adapter in hidden files then uninstall the adapter. Upon restarting the device the adapter did not reinstall. Running a fast check-in BIOS the Wireless Module shows that it is not installed.

I appreciate any help!!

Hi:

What is the product number of your PC?

The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.

Please do not post the serial number.

The product number:

Thanks

You're very welcome.

The parts list for your PC indicates that it comes with the RTL8821CE wifi/Bluetooth adapter.

It has been a work in progress by the wifi card manufacturer getting that model wifi adapter to work properly.

Realtek had been releasing driver updates for that card, and the 8822BE card for which seemed like every week.

The only suggestion I can offer at this time would be to update both the wifi and Bluetooth drivers to their latest versions, restart the PC and see if that resolves the problem.

Since the BIOS is reporting the wifi adapter is not present, it is also possible the card has failed and needs to be replaced.

Thanks Paul!

How would I go about updating the wifi adapter when it is no longer listed?

Hi:

You can run the driver packages, hope they work, and restart the PC.

If that doesn't work, then you will have to replace the wifi adapter.

I recommend getting an external USB wifi adapter.

But, if you want to replace the Realtek one, you can try removing and reseating it and see if that gets it to show up again.

If that doesn't work, then you will definitely have to replace the wifi adapter.

That RTL 8821CE has been on back order for months, and the only way to buy one that I could find is on eBay.

Here is the link to the service manual.  There is no wifi card R & R procedure, but the manual will give you the instructions to open up the PC and perhaps you will find it easy to access.

When removing and reseating the card, try and leave the antenna cable connected to it.   No sense in removing the cable if you don't have to.

Thank you so much for your help! I was thinking about getting the external USB wifi adapter instead of replacing the card.
