I opened up my laptop for the first time in about a year and it was working fine but when I went to connect it to wifi the wifi icon was missing. I went to personalize the little icons on the bottom of the screen but it showed the network one was already turned on, when I turned it off a space disappeared. So basically there is a space for the wifi spot but the icon is missing and I can’t click on it? Please help I am very confused.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
- What is the operating system?
- Have you tried a wired ethernet connection?
While you respond to that, let's try this workaround:
Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8.
BIOS default:
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
