@Ameeypathak29, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Wi-Fi disconnections on desktops can be frustrating, but I’ll guide you through a few steps to help resolve the issue.
Update Wireless Drivers
Outdated or corrupted drivers are a common cause of Wi-Fi instability.
- Go to the HP Support site: Official HP® Support
- Enter your desktop model number.
- Download and install the latest Wireless LAN driver for your operating system.
Power Management Settings
Windows may turn off your Wi-Fi adapter to save power.
- Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters → right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab → uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" → click OK.
Network Troubleshooter
Windows has a built-in tool that can automatically fix some issues.
- Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Status → click Network troubleshooter.
Assign a Static IP Address
Sometimes, DHCP conflicts can cause disconnections.
- Go to Control Panel → Network and Sharing Center → Change adapter settings.
- Right-click your Wi-Fi connection → Properties → select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) → click Properties.
- Choose Use the following IP address and enter:
- IP address: 192.168.1.xxx (choose a number not used by other devices)
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
- Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
Check Router Settings
- Ensure your router firmware is up to date.
- Try switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
- Avoid channel overlap by setting your router to a less congested channel.
BIOS Update (Advanced)
If the issue persists, updating the BIOS may help.
- Visit HP BIOS Updates for guidance. Official HP® Support
- Make sure to follow instructions carefully to avoid system issues.
