Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I was wondering what wifi card i should buy to put in my HP 400 Prodesk G6 SFF that is compatible.

Want something relatively cheap.  Needs to have bluetooth as well. What brand or model should I get?

Does it need to be a PCI slot or PCIe? etc

Thanks Hamish

Hi:

Your PC has a M.2 2230 Wi-Fi card slot.

I'd look into purchasing a desktop Wi-Fi kit with external antenna wires.

Something like this:

Amazon.com: AX210 WiFi 6E WiFi Card M.2 NGFF Mini Desktop kit Adapter 6GHz BT5.2 Wireless 802.11ax 5...

Below is the link to the service manual:

Thanks so much.

Is there much difference between the cards e.g different brands etc or should i just go for the cheapest option?

I read the hardware manual and was wondering if i can use the expansion slots for the wifi card?

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/61579/tp-link-ax1800-wifi-6-bluetooth-5-2-pcie-adapter

This TP-Link card seems to fit into the PCI x4 expansion slot.

Please let me know if this would work.

Thanks Hamish

You're very welcome.

You can fit the Wi-Fi card PCIe adapter in the PCIe x4 slot (it looks more like a PCIe x1 slot to me), but you need to make sure that your PC has a 9-Pin USB header on the motherboard, or you won't have Bluetooth.

The type of adapter you posted needs to have the USB cable that they supply with the card plugged into the USB header on the motherboard.  It may also have 13 pins if there is a SD card reader header.

I've looked at some 400 G6 SFF motherboard illustrations on eBay and don't see any such headers.

The motherboard connector illustration in chapter 2, page 12 of the manual I posted does not mention any such connectors.

That's why I recommended a direct M.2 Wi-Fi card installation in the designated M.2 Wi-Fi card slot which supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

But if you don't need Bluetooth the PCIe adapter will work fine for the Wi-Fi.
