I have a windows 11 and a Victus PC tower and during a game out of no where my wifi shut off. I at first thought it was nothing and would come back in the morning but it never did and is still not connecting, also thought it was my wifi's issue but after reseting it and having trouble connecting to other wifi its a possible software issue. Tried methods such as Network Drivers update, uninstalling/reinstalling, restarting the pc, a power flush, etc. None of these methods have worked and I'm wondering what I should do and if I should just get an ethernet cable.

Hi @Janine461

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels when Wi‑Fi suddenly drops during a game and refuses to reconnect even after you’ve already tried driver updates, reinstalls, resets, and power flushes.

You’ve been thorough, so let’s focus on deeper checks that often restore connectivity on a Victus PC tower running Windows 11.

Step‑by‑step actions

1. Verify wireless adapter status

  • Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
  • Expand Network adapters.
  • Confirm your wireless adapter is listed and enabled.
  • If it’s missing or disabled, right‑click > Enable.

2. Run the HP App Diagnose & Fix tool

  • Open the HP App on your PC.
  • Select your device, then go to Support > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Run the test for network connectivity.
  • This tool automatically repairs common wireless issues.

3. Reset network settings in Windows 11

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.
  • Scroll down and select Network reset.
  • Restart the PC after reset.
  • Reconnect to your Wi‑Fi network with the password.

4. Update BIOS and chipset drivers

5. Test with external USB Wi‑Fi adapter (optional)

  • If the internal adapter still fails, testing with a USB Wi‑Fi dongle can confirm whether the issue is hardware‑related.
  • If the USB adapter works, the internal card may need replacement.

6. Ethernet as a fallback

  • Using an Ethernet cable is always a reliable option for gaming.
  • It bypasses wireless issues and ensures stable, low‑latency connectivity.
  • Even if you fix Wi‑Fi, keeping Ethernet as backup is a good practice.

Your Victus tower’s Wi‑Fi issue is most likely tied to the wireless adapter or driver stack. By checking adapter status, running Diagnose & Fix, resetting network settings, and updating BIOS/chipset, you can restore connectivity.

If the adapter still fails, testing with a USB Wi‑Fi dongle or using Ethernet will confirm the path forward.
