Hi Paul,
Well we are back at it again. The Blue tooth software installed ok so the BCM43142A0 device
no longer shows up. I tried installing the 72009 driver you just sent but it says the "operating
system is not supported and the software will not be installed".
Boy, this is very frustrating! what is next?

Hi, Brad:
Sorry that nothing is working. One of those drivers I posted should have worked.
If you do not see a device listed as a Network Controller (where the BCM43142A0) bluetooth device previoulsy was, then I suspect the wireless hardware chip died on you.
Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

Hi Paul.
Well wonders never cease. I now have WiFi on Windows 7 (SP1. I am using it right now.
Evidently one of the drivers you suggested for me to try worked. It was just not installed
completely. I do not understand the installation processes very well. I was poking around
the Other devices list in Device Manager and opened the page of the unfilled BCM43142A0
that we talked about before. I selected Update Driver and the Browse my computer
driver software came up. I hit that and in a flash the driver was installed. So I now under
Network adapters I have Broadcom BCM43142802.11 bgn WiF-Fi Adapter.
Can you please tell me how to tell which of the several Broadcom drivers I installed
is the one that did the trick. I would like to make sure that I identify it and save it away
for any future needs like this.
Paul, thank you very much all your help in solving my driver need.

You're very welcome, Brad.
Glad to have been of assistance.
If I had to take an educated guess, I would say it was this one, though a few of those drivers should have had support for that model card.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70616.exe
When you look at the contents of the setup information file for the above driver, it contains the model description of that card. This is the list of wireless cards that driver supports.
