Hello, I'm trying to setup a Bridge Connection WiFi/Ethernet on a pavilion TP-01 and it establishes the bridge with no problem.  When the PC is rebooted the Bridge is broken because the WIFI adapter is set to "Disable".  It seems that the Ethernet has priority and disables the WIFI adapter.  How is this problem resolved?  I've tried many suggested fixes shown on the internet with no solution.

Hi @Hab48,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Network Adapter Settings: Ensure that both network adapters are configured correctly to maintain the bridge connection.

Disable Power Management Settings: Sometimes power management settings can cause network adapters to disable themselves.

Disable Power Management for Wi-Fi Adapter:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
  • Locate your Wi-Fi adapter under Network adapters.
  • Right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.
  • Go to the Power Management tab.
  • Uncheck the option Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Disable Power Management for Ethernet Adapter:

  • Follow the same steps for the Ethernet adapter:
  • Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck the option Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Set Wi-Fi Adapter Priority: Configure the priority of the network adapters to prevent the Ethernet adapter from disabling the Wi-Fi adapter.

  • Network Connections:
    • Open Control Panel and navigate to Network and Sharing Center.
    • Click on Change adapter settings on the left sidebar.
    • Press the Alt key to reveal the menu bar, and select Advanced > Advanced Settings.
    • In the Adapters and Bindings tab, move the Wi-Fi adapter above the Ethernet adapter to prioritize the Wi-Fi connection.

Ensure Bridge is Configured Correctly: Verify that the network bridge is set up correctly.

  • Right-click on the Start menu and select Network Connections.
  • Ensure both network adapters are part of the bridge connection and are enabled.

Update Network Drivers: Outdated drivers can cause connectivity issues. Ensure both Wi-Fi and Ethernet drivers are up-to-date.

  • Go to the HP Drivers and Downloads page.
  • Enter your product model (Pavilion TP-01) and download the latest network drivers.
  • Install the drivers and reboot your PC.

Automatic Disable Settings: Check if any settings automatically disable Wi-Fi when Ethernet is connected.

  • Windows Settings:
    • Open Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks.
    • Ensure there are no settings enforcing disablement of Wi-Fi when Ethernet is connected.

I hope this helps.
