Wifi card upgrade
02-11-2019 10:41 AM

I am looking to upgrade my wireless card as I have 350MB bandwidth but can only seem to get about 50mb with my current factory fitted card. HP seem to suggest i need an Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n featuring Dual-band (2.4Ghz and 5GHz) 2x2 MIMO technology, can anybody translate this to an actual product that I can buy that will definately fit?? Thanks

Hi:
Please post the full model number or product number of your PC.
The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.
Please do not post the serial number.
If you know how to open up your PC, the first thing you need to do is to confirm that there are two antenna cables going to the wifi card in there now.
You can't upgrade to a better dual band wifi card unless you have two antenna cables to attach to the dual band card.
If you do not have two antenna cables, the easiest thing to do would be to purchase an external dual band USB AC wifi adapter.

Hi, Martin:
If there are currently two antenna cables going to the Ralink wifi card in your PC now, you can upgrade to this dual band AC wifi card with bluetooth:
Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo HP part # 724935-001
With an excellent signal, this card has a maximum throughput of 867 MBPS
You should be able to find the card on Amazon or eBay. Cost is around $35-40.
If you don't want to spend that much, you can get this card...should cost somewhat less.
Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2×2 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter HP part # 730668-001
With an excellent signal, the card has a maximum throughput of 300 MBPS.
Once again...your PC must have two antenna cables to attach to the dual band wifi card, or it won't work properly.
