Hi @A_RJ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've lost the Wi-Fi option on your HP laptop and it doesn't appear in Device Manager, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Physical Wireless Switch or Key: Many HP laptops have a physical switch or a function key (often F12) that enables or disables the wireless functionality. Make sure that this is turned on. Look for an airplane icon or a wireless symbol on the key.

Enable Wireless in BIOS: Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing Esc or F10 during boot). Look for an option related to wireless or LAN settings and ensure it is enabled.

Update Network Adapter Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand the "Network adapters" section.
  • Right-click on your wireless adapter (if it appears) and select "Update Driver".
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" to see if there are any available updates.

Check for Hidden Devices: In Device Manager, click on "View" and select "Show hidden devices". This may reveal the wireless adapter if it was previously hidden.

Reinstall Wireless Adapter Drivers: If the wireless adapter is not showing up at all, you may need to reinstall its drivers:

  • In Device Manager, if you can find the adapter, right-click and select "Uninstall device".
  • Restart your laptop, and Windows should attempt to reinstall the drivers.

Windows Updates: Sometimes, recent updates can cause issues. Check for any pending updates and install them. Also, look for any specific updates for network drivers.

Restore Previous Configuration: If the problem started after a recent change, consider using System Restore to revert your laptop back to a previous state when the Wi-Fi was working.

Hardware Check: If none of the above works, there could be a hardware issue. If you're comfortable opening the laptop, ensure that the wireless card is properly seated.

These steps should help you diagnose and potentially resolve the issue with your missing Wi-Fi option.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
