HP Pavilion All-in-One - 24-k0024

HP pavilion all in one.  I was using both keyboard and mouse, went away for an hour or so and both stopped working when I returned.  Replaced batteries but still doesn’t work.  Does this have to do with a new driver installation?

Hi @PartridgeCircle,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your wireless keyboard and mouse!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

  1. Move the keyboard and mouse closer to the PC and remove any nearby wireless devices like Bluetooth headphones or speakers. Restart the PC.

  2. Reconnect the wireless receiver (USB dongle). Unplug the USB receiver from the computer, wait for 10 seconds, then plug it back into a different USB port. If nothing happens, restart the PC and check if they work.

  3. Try a wired keyboard and mouse. Connect a wired keyboard and mouse to see if your PC recognizes USB devices. If the wired devices work, continue with the next steps.

  4. Reinstall keyboard and mouse drivers. If the issue is related to a driver update, press Windows + X and select Device Manager. Expand Keyboards and Mice and Other Pointing Devices. Right-click on the wireless keyboard/mouse and select Uninstall device. Restart your PC, and Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.

  5. Check for Windows updates and HP Support Assistant. Open Settings > Windows Update and check for updates. If available, install the latest updates. Open HP Support Assistant and check for firmware updates for your keyboard and mouse.

  6. Try pairing again (if Bluetooth). If your keyboard and mouse are Bluetooth-based, go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices. Remove the keyboard and mouse and re-add them manually.

  7. Reset BIOS (last resort). Turn off the PC. Turn it on and immediately press F10 multiple times to enter BIOS. Press F9 to restore defaults, then press F10 to save and exit.

  8. If still not working, test the keyboard and mouse on another PC. If they work on another PC, your USB port may be faulty. If they don't work anywhere, they may need replacement.

Let me know what happens! 😊
