@tpcallahan -- when you use the "scroll-wheel" on a mouse, you will find that the direction of the scrolling of the window goes one way on a computer running the Microsoft Windows operating system, and the opposite way, on a computer running the Apple MacOS operating system.  Is that what you mean?

On some mice, if you "click" on the scroll-wheel, it might "lock" in a downward position.

Then, simply physically moving the mouse, without touching the buttons or the wheel,  will cause the screen to scroll, until you re-click on the mouse-wheel, to terminate this scrolling action. Is that what you mean?
