HP Pavilion Desktop - TP01-0070
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

we were having issues with the internet dropping on all our devices so I contacted our cable internet provider and they sent a new modem. All of our devices have connected and working fine except for my HP desktop. I’ve verified that the password is correct, it found and recognized the new modem, it says connected but not connected to the internet. I’m not sure what else to try.

Click on the network icon and run the troubleshooter. I suspect you need to reset the network wifi controller.

Another possibility is that it is trying to connect at 2.4ghz instead of 5ghz and the 2.4ghz signal is weak

You will have to log into the modem and rename one of the bands.

while in there order the modem to find the best bands
Be sure to find the channel that has the least amount of noise

Reconnect the desktop to the modem using the 5ghz band.

I am glad you got it working.  Recently, when I run a windows 11 troubleshooter, I get a message that the troubleshooter is going to be removed in the next  windows update.  I assume Microsoft is consolidating all their individual little trouble shooters into a better package that can run in background and find problems on their own. Probably part of the big switch to AI.  That AI is a good marketing tool but many of the problems are between the keyboard and the chair.  If Micro$oft wants to take the keyboard and the chair away they are going to have a problem with their new OS .   IMHO.

Anyway, you might want to mark your answer as a solution so it will show up when users have the same problem.
