The HP wireless mouse is working but the keyboard is no both use the same dongle

How long have you had this keyboard / mouse kit?
If the mouse still works, the batteries are new, then it is certainly broken

every thing is new, after experimenting around I found the moving the dongle to a high speed usb port every is working. Does not sense to me.
