HP ENVY Desktop - 795-0137cb   Wondering if the wireless card can be upgraded on this unit? HP specs says it has a 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.2 combo on a berks mother board with 400 watt power supply.  Thanks, Ron

Hi:

The parts list for your PC indicates that it comes with a Realtek RTL8821CE AC wifi adapter.

HP PartSurfer

That means there is probably only one antenna wire connected to the card currently installed and a better card would require two.

What you could do would be to make a slight modification.

Purchase an Intel AX200 desktop kit that comes with external antennas.

Amazon.com: Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) Desktop Kit, AX200, 2230, 2x2 AX+BT, vPro® : Electronics

Remove the RTL8821CE, install the Intel Ax200, zip tie the internal antenna wire to some existing wires to keep it from hitting anything metal, and run the two antenna wires from the kit to the external antennas.

You can also find similar kits on eBay for a bit less.

Thank you so much for all the info on how to speed up the wifi on my  desktop!  I had no idea how to go about it. looks fairly simple and not too expensive.
