I have an elitedesk 800 g4 that I bought slightly used on ebay. I just found out after chatting with HP support that my desktop does not support wifi. I'd never heard of that before. He said something like, if the desktop did not get ordered to support wifi that it wasn't "stamped" (or something) that way and it wouldn't support wifi, even though it has a slot on the MB for a wlan card (i purchased an intel 9560 card). Disappointing. Has anyone come across this before? other things my computer might not be able to do? Think I can still do a wifi dongle.

The series has many different models/products and wifi adapter could be an option for each model. You can use the wifi adapters list on the following link
https://support.hp.com/vn-en/document/c06060415#AbT8
to buy a wifi adapter and install to your machine. It does have a slot for wifi adapter/card
- (1) M.2 PCIe x1 2230 (for WLAN)
- (2) M.2 PCIe x4 2280/2230 combo (for storage)
- (2) PCI Express v3.0 x1
- (1) PCI Express v3.0 x16 (wired as x4)
- (1) PCI Express v3.0 x16
Regards.
