Is the 230 wireless mouse and keyboard combo compatible with a mac?  Is there a way to activate FN keys to allow mac to work properly?

@pm2n, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The HP 230 Wireless Mouse and Keyboard Combo can be used with a Mac, as it connects via a USB type-A receiver which should work with most systems, including macOS. However, compatibility regarding software features might be limited on macOS, particularly for any specific customization applications designed for Windows.

Regarding the function (FN) keys and their activation, macOS generally has built-in support for standard keyboard functions, but advanced customization for function keys may require third-party software, as HP's customization options may not be directly supported on macOS.

To ensure that the FN keys work properly, check your Mac's keyboard settings under System Preferences and adjust any settings related to function keys.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
