It should work fine but since there are no USB3 ports in your PC, the adapter may not run at its maximum advertised throughout.

Dual band USB Wi-Fi 6 adapters work best from a USB 3 port.

ok my on board wifi card quit working when pc updated is there a way to get it back working again

HP Recommended

Probably not.

Whatever card the PC came with is probably not supported to run on W10.

It may have worked on earlier builds, but on the newer builds of W10 many wifi adapters quit working--especially the Ralink models.

would there be a better usb wifi adapter  to get

I wouldn't know.

I bought a cheap dual band Wi-Fi 6 adapter with Bluetooth that works fine for my needs on a PC that had no internal Wi-Fi adapter.
