my laptop wont connect to the net signal streth is there but unsquered i had a look at my adapter card and it says its ok and working as is driver, ive ran the quick tests ,rebooted tried everything . still wont contect all i get is a dialogue box with crome asking to be a guest, im sure i had the other night an update , but this morning nothing , packets sent 80 nothing back

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

 

There are many different HP 255 products ranging from G1 to G7 Notebooks. 

 

80 packets sent and nothing back means you are not connecting to the network.

 

I don't know if this is a ethernet or WIFI problem.

 

You have multiple failure points.

 

The ISP

 

Ethernet or WIFI drivers

 

The modem

 

The router

 

You had a unknown update. Could you connect to the net before this update?

 

Your problem is very hard to diagnose.
