Hi @nikhil172,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble sharing your laptop’s internet connection via its hotspot feature. This can happen due to various reasons related to network settings or configurations. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

1. Check Hotspot Settings

  • Ensure Internet Sharing is Enabled:

Windows:

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile hotspot.
  • Make sure Share my Internet connection with other devices is turned on.
  • Under Share my Internet connection from, ensure Ethernet (or your active connection) is selected.
  • Check that the Network name, Network password, and Network band are set up correctly.

Mac:

  • Go to System Preferences > Sharing.
  • Select Internet Sharing from the list on the left.
  • Set Share your connection from to Ethernet.
  • Check Wi-Fi in the To computers using list.
  • Click Wi-Fi Options to configure the network name and password, then enable Internet Sharing.

2. Verify Network Adapter Settings

  • Check Adapter Properties:

Windows:

  • Open Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
  • Right-click the Ethernet connection and select Properties.
  • Go to the Sharing tab and make sure Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection is checked.
  • In the drop-down menu, select the hotspot connection (usually named Local Area Connection 2* or similar).

Mac:

  • Ensure that Internet Sharing is configured correctly in the Sharing settings as mentioned above.

3. Update Network Drivers

  • Update Drivers:
    1. Windows:
      • Go to Device Manager.
      • Right-click on your network adapters (Ethernet and Wi-Fi) and select Update driver.
      • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
