omen 25l

i have tried a number of solutions to fixing this issue. The PC is a omen 25l desktop. All of my other PCs have access to the same internet and are around the same distance from the source of the internet. i have a very cheep laptop that uses the same internet and it has a faster connection (50mbps the omen only gets about 10mbps download). I have updated all my drivers. I bought a WiFi extender and i have used a Ethernet cable and nothing seems to work.

If using hardwired ethernet, bring up the device manager and makes sure full duplex and high speed are selected at the network adapter.  I assume the ethernet cable connects directly to the back of the modem and not through a hub.

Then check your link speed to see how fast it is.

If using WIFi then ensure you are on the 5ghz band and not the 2.4ghz

If the WiFI does not have an option to select the 5ghz, then you will need to log into the modem and rename of the bands so that when you connect the PC you get the 5ghz band instead of the 2.4ghz.  Normally each band has the exact same name and password.

Also, check that the modem is using the band with the least amount of noise

Be sure to find the channel that has the least amount of noise

i appreciate the reply but this did not fix the issue . The PC is still running 10mbps.

Your system should be much faster then 10mbits per second unless you are on a repeater or "booster"

Are you on hardwired ethernet?  if so, what is your link speed?

Are you on the 5ghz band or the 2.4

if your PC is on one of the mesh repeaters then quote " throughput is halved for all clients connected wirelessly"

I have 1ghz link speed and my hardwired Ethernet speed averages 29mbits/s running the Google Fiber test

I  do not have google fiber so the test is probably accurate.

If I switch to 5ghz there is no change in thruput.

If I switch to 2.4 the speed drops to 18mbits/s probably due to signal strength as 2.4 typically is 50-100mbits/sec

All my modems/routers/switches are 1gbit and no repeaters or "boosters"

You might want to check your modem for WiFi problems such as low signal strength and to verify if your PC is on 5ghz or 2.4ghz
