Microsoft Windows 11

HP Envy Desktop TE01-5085t PC. ( I have 6 other HP cpus and they were never a problem). I was able to get connected with my Linksys router but the HP Blue screen titled "Other User"" which is the only sign in page that I have found and it accepts neither my HP username  and password, nor any of my several Microsoft usernames (owner, etc.  - nor the Microsoft addresses plus the passwords. ) I am stuck after 20 hours trying to get fully in. Computer is totally unusable for anything. I will NEVER buy a HP product Online from them again. I will go to Best Buy where they can help set it up, etc.  I have been purchasing and setting up my own computers for 40 years starting with the IBM-XT. NEVER had any problems before. Why the first page aIways is titled "Other User" instead of "user" I have no clue.  I am open to any suggestions. HP is supposed to call me in about 20 hours.  Thanks for listening.

Hi @jharding59,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how difficult it must be to set up a new system. Unable to Sign In – HP Envy Desktop TE01-5085 with Windows 11, only to be locked out at the sign-in screen showing “Other User”, especially when you're confident that your credentials are correct. We’re here to help, and we want to get you back into your system as quickly as possible.

Step 1: Try Local Account Access

  1. On the “Other User” screen, try entering:
    • Username: Administrator
    • Password: (Leave blank and press Enter)

If this works, you can create a new user account from inside Windows.

Step 2: Boot into Safe Mode

If the above doesn't work:

  1. Power on the computer and force shut it down (hold power button) during boot when you see the spinning circle — repeat 3 times to trigger Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).
  2. Choose Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  3. Press 4 or F4 for Safe Mode.
  4. Try logging in from there or creating a new user account.

Step 3: Offline Account Reset (If Setup Was Skipped)

If no Microsoft account was properly linked, the PC may not have a usable profile set up. In that case:

  • Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then check if any other login options appear.
  • Alternatively, a Windows 11 recovery USB may be required to reset the system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
