Is there a simple fix for this? The router is fine, the wi-fi signal is strong and all other devices are connecting normally. The adapter is the latest version available.

On most OEM units the WiFi adapter is built-in. Without the model number, it is not possible to offer much help. One alternative is to try a USB WiFi adapter instead of using the built-in feature. Assuming you know the router that you are trying to connect to info, try to match the WiFi signal and characteristics of the router with the USB adapter.
