Hi:

According to the product specs for your PC, the bcm43142 802.11 bgn is of the M.2 form factor, not HMC.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04721856

The parts list seems to indicate just one antenna cable is present and connected to the Broadcom wifi card.

That limits your options to this one dual band 1 x 1 AC wifi card that was designed to work with one antenna cable.

The card will have the same throughput on the 2.4 GHz wifi band as the Broadcom does, but it will have a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz band with an AC router, 150 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with a dual band wireless N router.

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)

HP part # L17365-005

Unfortunately, the card has been on back order for months on the HP parts store, but there are several for sale on eBay.

Now, if you want to open up the PC and check to confirm how many antenna cables are in there before upgrading to the above wifi adapter, if there are two, let me know, and I will suggest a different model wifi card.
