HP Pavilion All-in-One - 24-r180a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My computer is not connecting to the internet via a wireless connection. I have a laptop right next to it, and it connects fine. Ive had to connect via ethernet. My Realtek adaptor( Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller) says that it is up to date.Is there meant to be more than one adaptor?

@Erik3274, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP Pavilion All-in-One - 24-r180a to Wi-Fi, even though your laptop connects just fine. You're currently using Ethernet and noticed that only the Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller (which is for wired connections) is listed.

Let’s walk through some steps to identify and resolve the issue:

Check for a Wireless Adapter

Your PC should have a wireless adapter listed under Device Manager > Network Adapters. Look for something like:

  • Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168
If you don’t see a wireless adapter listed, it could be:
  • Disabled in BIOS
  • Disabled in Device Manager
  • Missing or corrupted drivers
  • A hardware issue

Enable Hidden Devices

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Click View > Show hidden devices.
  3. Expand Network Adapters and check if a wireless adapter appears.
    • If it’s greyed out, right-click and select Enable.

Reinstall or Update Wireless Drivers

  1. Visit the official HP support page for your model: Official HP® Support
  2. Download and install the latest Wireless LAN driver for Windows 10 (64-bit).
  3. Restart your PC after installation.

Run HP Network Troubleshooter

HP provides a built-in tool to diagnose and fix network issues: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

  1. Download and run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows
  2. Select Component Tests > Network > Wireless Module Test.

Check BIOS Settings

Sometimes the wireless adapter is disabled in BIOS:

  1. Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly, then F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Look for Advanced > Built-in Device Options.
  3. Ensure Wireless LAN is enabled.

Reset Network Settings (if adapter is visible)

If the adapter is visible but not working:

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
  2. Scroll down and click Network reset.
  3. Restart your PC.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
