wireless driver issue
07-05-2016 03:58 PM

the desktop came with windows 10 preinstalled my client needs this machine to be downgraded to windows 7 64 bit edition and i'm having a issue with the driver for wireless its a bcm943142HMBPFXH_2 HW 07 Rev 3 the driver that is available on hp website for windows 10 for bluetooth works fine but the wireless driver does not and under windows 7 there is no broadcom driver listed but when I try to install the windows 10 driver in compatiblity mode with windows 7 using the setup file it gives an error stating the OS is not supported when I force the driver on there using the inf and dll files it gives me a yellow exclamation point that says the requested device registry key does not exist but it shows the driver loaded and even the wireless properties where you can make changes to the adapter broadcom has a page located here https://www.broadcom.com/products/wireless-connectivity/bluetooth/bcm43142 but no drivers for download or compatible with windows 7 64 bit all of the third party drivers I have tried does not work it either gives me this same error or an error stating that the drivers are missing or corrupt if its a combo card you would think hp would have a combo driver and why on there site is it two seperate setup files i've been working on a solution for days now and my customers are growing impatient

Hi:
See if this driver works...
The package contains the Broadcom wireless LAN drivers and utility that are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN Adapter in supported models that are running a supported operating system.

Sorry that driver also did not work its states that the driver is missing or corrupt it shows all of the available wireless options but still has the yellow exclamation mark and cant be used

This is the W7 Broadcom driver that is linked to the 550-000 series support page.
It seems awful old to me which is why I didn't post it.
This package provides the Broadcom Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Driver in the supported desktop models and operating systems.
File name: sp68997.exe
If that doesn't work either I suggest you reinstall W7 because all the driver experimentation you did most likely messed up the registry.
Check the hardware ID for the device with the ID's supported by the drivers I posted.
The first one I posted supports the models with the following ID's as set forth in the driver setup information file.
; x64 (AMD64, Intel EM64T) - Win7
;
[BROADCOM.NTamd64.6.1]
%BCM430N_DeviceDesc% = BCM43XNG_NT61, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_2230103C
%BCM430N_DeviceDesc% = BCM43XNG_NT61, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_22D3103C
%BCM430N_DeviceDesc_HPY% = BCM43XNG_NT61, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_2232103C
%BCM430N_DeviceDesc_HPY% = BCM43XNG_NT61, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_22D4103C
%BCM430N_DeviceDesc_HPY% = BCM43XNG_NT61, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_804A103C
The second one I posted supports the following ID's:
