Hey I am having problems with a computer that belongs to a client of mine that is having issue with the Power-On Password. I have looked far and wide for support on this issue for this particular computer and it looks like there is no avail for this bios password issue that I have not tried. I have pulled CMOS battery and Jumper, I do not have any set of numbers after 3 incorrect passwords that would allude to what the password is, and I have called HP whom has only offered me a $300 dollar Motherboard replacement which I could probably complete myself for a lot less. I am just wondering if I have exhausted all of my resources, and if there is any other options I may have before trying to pull this thing apart and replace an entire motherboard? Any help that is given is very much appreciated.
Also if I do have to get into this thing and replace a motherboard, if anyone has a link to a guide it would be much appreciated and save me a bit of time.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you would like to know if there is any other option on recovery the BIOS password and if there is none then how to replace the motherboard for this unit. I'll do my best to provide the information to you.
I did some research and found that whatever information HP phone support provided was correct. However if you could let me know the exact model no. of the computer, I will find the hardware service guide for this model and reply to you.. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l.
Please feel free to reply. Cheers! 🙂

You're welcome. 🙂
Thanks for reiterating on that. It was my ignorance. You computer model no. is HP ENVY Recline 23-k027c TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC.
I checked the specifications and this model has a Quanta The Laurel-G motherboard. I did some research on this model and could find the option to open the rear cover of this model to access the internal components.
Once you open the rear cover, you will get access to all internal components like a hard drive, memory, etc. In order to replace the motherboard, you will have to first remove the hard drive, DVD drive and memory etc. first.
Please view this link for detailed steps to open the rear cover: http://hp.care/2lQkEX1
Hope this information helps. Cheers! 🙂
