Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

AverMedia H789 PCIU-E Hybrid DVB-T tuner card installed in my Desktop stopped working after upgrading to Windows 10 (64bits) and under Device Manager it is showing as unknown device. I am not able to install the updated driver of the same. Every time when I try to update the driver, the following message appers :

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

This operation requires an interactive window station.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

Can anybody help..??

Anand Jain

Hi:

See if this works...

Download, but do not run the W7 TV tuner driver from your PC's support page.

Original driver for the AVerMedia H789 PCI-E Hybrid DVB-T TV tuner solutions.

File name: sp43189.exe

Download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd file listed is for 64 bit.

http://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the TV tuner driver you downloaded.

Select 7-zip from the list of options.

Have 7-zip Extract to:  And let it extract the file into its folder name (sp43189).

Then go to the device manager and click on the TV Tuner device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder 7-zip created.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

Then reboot the PC.

I tried the same but in the device manager following message is given :

"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

AverMedia Consumer Infrared Receiver.

This operation requires an interactive window station."

No resolution. I am using Windows 10 Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.36)

I have searched on the site of AverMedia also but no driver is avilable there also for Windows 10. I think there is some compatability issue.

When I run the exe file it gives a message " Your system does not meet the operating system requirements. Update has been cancelled (9998)"

Please help.

Anand Jain

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

Apparently that device is not compatible with W10, and if you need a TV tuner, you will have to get one that is compatible with W10.
