M2N78-LA Motherboard BIOS Update

2010-07-21 , Version:5.16, 1.63M

M2N78-LA Motherboard BIOS update resolves an issue with the system hanging and displaying a blank screen after a restart.

I applied this update to my computer - HP Pavilion p6310f - Win 7 -

The update was designed to speed up the fan when computer was working harder

- It did as designed BUT NOT NEEDED - Computer was working fine without -

NOW - computer is VERY NOISY - AGGRAVATING -

HOW DO I CHANGE COMPUTER BACK TO ORIGINAL BIOS ?

Hey there!!! look what I found: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-85559-1&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en

BTW:  I'm not so sure this will be the best but it is older than the one that was installed.  If it refuses to run the older BIOS, then open the EXE with 7-zip, extract the BIOS image and  look here and choose "afudos v.4.33"  to flash from DOS

I found that info here: http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Pegatron-M2N78-LA-BIOS

You may be older than me but not by much.  I was born just after WWII

In order to change it back, one has to have an older BIOS file to flash to the motherboard.  Normally HP will not supply an older file if they are hosting an update.  Therefore, a member that has the same motherboard and can export a copy of the BIOS or find someone that has the older BIOS.

BTW:  I see in other threads that the symptoms described are quite common and there seems to be no resolution.

I have a HP Pavilion p6320y Desktop Computer that also uses a M2N78-LA (Violet6) motherboard and may have a copy of an older BIOS revision laying around. I will be able to take a look late Friday or sometime Saturday.

Be careful if you install  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-85559-1&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en. It indicates that it is for a M2N78-LA motherboard but not which M2N78-LA motherboard... Viola, Violet, Violet3, or Violet6. If you flash the wrong version to your computer, it may "BRICK" it. According to THIS THREAD, the update IS NOT for the M2N78-LA (Violet6) motherboard.
