z240 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I rec'd the message today that a new BIOS update was available for a Z240 workstation. This is SP79128, BIOS update 1.50Ap1.

It downloads OK but during the installation, as the command prompt window opens, I get a "can't find iexlore" error. Well, there is no iexplore.exe on my computer and, in fact, iexlore.exe (Internet Explorer 11) it not compatible with Windows 10 Pro.

So there's no way to update the BIOS using the automated SP79128 pack from HP!

Any tips on this? I tried downloading the SP directly and followed the USB install instructions but it still gives the same error.

HP -- you need to make these so they do not use IE, make the installer generic!

How can I update the BIOS now, anyone have a solution? Thanks.

Hello

Maybe I can assist you.

IE is on Win 10, you can find either 32 bit or 64 bit in Program Files (x86) and Program Files for 64 bit version.

I have IE 64 bit, using Windows 10 Pro, pinned to Taskbar and use once in while.

Unfortunately IE is not on my Z240 and I can't install it either after a download from Microsoft, I get an error message that says it's incompatible with my computer for some reason.
