Hopefully we can get this worked out. Normally you do Not press F11 when you are using Recovery Discs. Not sure but you may have triggered a mis-step by using it.
Follow the instructions here closely to start over with a recovery attempt:

As as Dokie said-Good Luck! Let us know how it goes.

Black screen with a white blinking dash on the upper left corner usally means your computer can not find a operating system. Sense you failed to post your OS and model number it is difficult to help you. There can be several reasons that the recovery discs fail to load. Is there a reason that you didn't try the hidden recovery that's in your D drive?

Hi! If your PC was badly infected, the best way is to restore back to factory. You say you have the recovery discs, but they won't complete. The discs could be corrupted. Your DVD drive might not be able to read the discs. You could have defective hardware.
You did not answer my question! Have you tried to restore from the hidden partition on your HD? Please read this and reply back with details.

See if you can get here to test your hardware!

Hi ! Good job! It appears that your hardware is ok. We have to find away to install your OS, as I believe it has been corrupted. I will see if Cheryl will help us. She may log on later tonight. I'm thinking you may have to order recocery discs from HP.

Hi! Some day we will be a community here on the HP forum and members will join together to help HP members with PC issues. They will leave their ego's at the door and join together to help others like Cheryl does.
I do not mean to cause trouble here on the HP forum. It takes a village to make a forum. I have been in the Canadian Hunter to much tonight and so I will say good night Vietnam.
You are appreciated Cheryl. Thank you my friend! I'll see you on the flip flop.:smileywink:
Dokie!
