I just got a new desktop PC with Windows 7.  There were pre-installed programs and I handled those just fine.  But there are desktop icons and menu links for ebay, quickbooks, etc.  They are not installed, but you can install them if you want to try them.  I deleted the desktop icon but I can't remove them from the menu because something called Wizlink.exe is the application that is invoked and I am assuming from there, you can choose what you want to install.  I do not want to try it to see.

As an example the free trial for Quicken and Quickbooks, the path is,"C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Shared\WizLink.exe" http://redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=4&tp=onlinesvs&s=quickenfc&pf=cndt&locale=en_us&bd=presario&c=10....  The ebay link is, ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Shared\WizLink.exe" http://redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=4&tp=onlinesvs&s=ebay&pf=cndt&locale=en_us&bd=all&c=101.  There's one for HP Software Store too, and I don't know what else is involved.

Does anyone know if it's safe to delete wizlink.exe?

Hello Jovey. Wizlink controls numerous functions on the computer, related to contents of the operating system. I would not delete this executable program. It does not contain any viral or infectious threat towards the computer; it's a completely stable and healthy program.

"...a completely stable and healthy program". Yeah right. HP is selling laptops with pre-installed spam.
