I am having the same problem with not having a "disable" option for Pen and Touch.   Any alternatives for those of us with newer models needing to temporarily disable touch screen?

There is no 'disable' option per say. You need to go to the 'Touch' tab under Pen and Touch and un-check the 'Use your finger as an input device' option. The press 'Apply'.
Hope this helps.

hello,

I need some help to enable touchscreen. The option 'Use your finger as an input device' is not working.  I checked disabling/enabling the drive, and even updated it (NextWindow Voltron Touch Screen), but nothing happens.

Back in the day it used to work so fine it drove me nuts (I have several cats), and somehow found a way to make it stop working, but I don't remember how I did it and now I can't get it undone!

System info:  OS windows 7, HP Pavillion

I have an HP ENVY 20-d013w TouchSmart with Windows 8. I too wanted to disable the touchscreen feature due to a cracked screen. None of the other options applied to this computer.

I found the correct device to disable. Mine was just called the generic "HID-compliant device" along with the other 4 devices of the same name. I just went through one-by-one and disabled each until I found the 3rd one down did the trick. Yours might be a different one. Give it a shot if all the other options don't work.

All I did was disable the first one then touched the screen to see if it was disabled. Then I enabled it back then disabled the second one and so on. Don't be affraid to disable items in the Device Manager, unless you have a mission critical computer that's doing important things, then you shouldn't be messing with anything.

So just disable, touch, enable for every one until you find it. :generic:

Hi Britt, I have successfully turned of my touchscreen using the method below.

You didn't state which model or operating system you have. If my solution doesn't help you, could you repost with complete model number and operating system (such as Windows XP, Windows 8, etc).

These instructions are for Windows 8. To get to Device Manager in Windows 7, click the Start button, and then type Device Manager in the search field. Select Device Manager from the search results.

  1. Press the Windows logo key + X.
  2. Select Device Manager from the list.
  3. Click the little arrow next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.
  4. Click the touch screen driver (in my case, NextWindow Voltron Touch Screen).
  5. Right-click, and select Disable from the list.
  6. Click Yes on the dialog box that asks if you are sure you want to disable the touch screen driver.

When you want your touch screen to work again, follow the process above, EXCEPT when right-clicking the touch screen driver, select Enable.

Thank You lil-liebe, your solution works for me.
