Hello all,
We recently ordered a fleet of HP Chromeboxes to replace some of our light-duty PCs and we've been having lots of problems with the wired networking. These devices take an unusually long time to detect the LAN depending on where they're plugged in, and in some cases they refuse to detect it at all. This behavior occurs whether the Chromeboxes are set to use DHCP or static IPs.
No other device has given us trouble when plugged into the network ports where the Chromeboxes don't work properly. We've checked our cabling, port terminations, even our switch configuration, but can find nothing wrong. This seems to either be a hardware issue or ChromeOS software issue, but we have no idea how to proceed from here. If it's a software issue then maybe there's some way to force ChromeOS to use the wired port even if it thinks it's down for some reason, but we can't find any info on that.
And before anyone suggests it, we can't use WiFi instead because a few of the areas where these will be used don't have coverage. We bought these devices expecting to use them exclusively on our wired network and have had our roll-out delayed by this issue. Hoping there's an HP staff member reading this who might have a solution.
