The department I work for has multiple Compaq 8000 Elite (small form factor) computers hooked up to Compaq LA2205wg monitors.  Recently, we moved one 8000 and its monitor from one building to another.  When I tried to start it up, the monitor would not detect a signal from any input, and nothing was displayed.

There is a VGA cable plugged into the monitor, which is then fed through a DisplayPort adapter before connecting to the DisplayPort of the 8000.  I tried using just the VGA cable, connecting to the VGA port on the 8000, but nothing changed.

To troubleshoot it, I hooked up a different LA2205wg to the same 8000, thinking that it would help me determine whether the issue was with the monitor or the computer.  It also failed to detect any signal, so I figured that the issue was with the computer.

However, when I returned the monitor to its original computer (also a Compaq 8000) it started showing the same issues!  I tried restarting, but it hasn't helped, now I have two computers and monitors that won't talk to each other.

That was long and confusing, so the gist of it is I disconected my Compaq LA2205wg monitor from a Compaq 8000 Elite, and when I reconnected them, the monitor was not able to find a source.

Has anyone had an issue like this before?  This seems like it could be the theft deturance system (I do not know if that was set up), but from what I read, this isn't how it should act if it was triggered.

Thanks for any insight you might have!
