I flashed the BIOS a few days ago from a 2009 to 2015 version. I tried to install an 8GB stick (knowing the slots were 4GB only, but I figured I since I ordered them online I decided I would try before I returned it), PC 10600 1333MHz. With the chip in, I turned on the computer and there was no display... after about 10 seconds I received a 5 beep POST code and the power supply went into overdrive.
I removed the memory stick and rebooted the computer - no POST code, no display, power supply goes into overdrive.
I removed all memory execpt one of the original sticks, and got the same problem.
So, I found a fix in an online forum stating to remove all cables going into the computer and remove power supply cables that attach directly to the motherboard, hold down the power button for 30 seconds, plug everything back in and boot up... no POST code, no display, power supply still goes crazy
I am thinking

I have considered that the BIOS may have done something wierd when it saw the new memory - I have tried taking out the CMOS battery, waiting for 60 seconds, then plugging it back in, but the same issue happens (no display, power supply fan goes nuts - 5 beep POST code with the new memory in).
The computer worked perfectly fine before I tried installing the memory so I don't see how this could be a bad power supply. If it is not the PSU or the BIOS, then it must be the motherboard? I have also taken the computer outside and blew out the dust with a can of pressurized air.
Any thoughts? I have not able to find a copy of the original BIOS to re-flash it.

Hi:
5 beeps is a memory error.
Sounds to me like you fried the motherboard.
Why that would happen just because you installed a 8 GB memory chip, is beyond me.
Did you remove everything connected to the PC, and press and hold the little yellow clear CMOS button on the motherboard? Press and hold it for about 20 seconds after you press the power button to drain any residual power from the motherboard.
The little yellow button is normally located near the coin cell battery.
That would be about the only other thing you can try if you have not done so already.
The maximum memory your PC can take is 4 x 4 GB.
The 6200 Pro was the first model in that series that could take 4 x 8 GB of PC3-10600 memory.
You can probably get used but tested and working 6000 Pro MT motherboards fairly cheaply on eBay.
