@daizy

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the computer keeps going back to password to re-enter,

No worries as I'd love to help, however, I need a few more details to provide an accurate solution:

Does the issue occur after a certain period of time or is it instantly going to lock screen after the mouse is in an idle position?

Did you try turning off the screensaver and sleep mode to check if the issue persists,

did you try logging in using an alternate keyboard? if not please do.

In the meantime, please follow the below steps:

  1. Open the Keyboard control panel item, as described in Method 1.
  2. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Properties
  3. Click the Change Settings button
    Note This step requires Administrator access
  4. Click the Power Management tab, and then verify that the Allow this device to wake the computer is enabled.
  5. Click OK, and then click OK again.

If issue persists, update the BIOS using this link: Click here

Let me know how that pans out,

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.
