My computer wouldn't turn on at all. I determined it to be a faulty power supply. I replaced the power supply and dusted it out and when I went to turn it on, it started, stopped, started, stopped, then started again. 3/4 times it will attempt to boot, the other times it just sits on a black screen with the monitor going to sleep. When it attempts to boot, the Vista load screen flashes then it goes black, with the monitor not going to sleep. It does not beep, the CAPS light on the keyboard doesn't flash, nor does the power button. I can access BIOS just fine, have reset the jumper a few times. The HP diagnostic utility runs andown detects no error with RAM or HDD.

Hi @Brennon

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is not booting to windows.

I’d love to help!

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software/Hardware changes (Apart from changing power supply)?

Meanwhile, follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

Thanks for the Reply.

The last time the machine was working was 3/23/17, so not long ago.

On Monday the 24th I woke up and tried to boot and noticed the light on the power supply was out and replaced it next day.

I have not replaced any other hardware, although I have had the memory modules out to spray dust out and again to reseat them for (failed) troubleshooting.

Hey there sorry for the late response.

I tried everything on that article you posted in the link.

I also tried to put a different harddrive with windows 7 installed in the machine and it did the same thing, turned on and off 3 times and then attempted to boot windows, showed the load screen, then went to a blank blue screen, no errors.

Hi @Brennon

I recommend you to run a hardware test on the computer to make sure all the hardware components are working fine.

Follow the steps in the below article to run the hardware test.
