The blue light on the front of this workstation while in sleep mode is very bright and very blinky. I'm worried it's keeping my dog from enjoying a good night's sleep so have resorted to turning the machine off.
I enabled / disabled "Unique Sleep State Blink Rates" in the bios but that doesn't fix.
Is there some way to turn this light off during sleep mode?
I may put tape over it but would prefer a more elegant solution : )
Regards,
SM

I spoke to an HP support rep via chat who said it was not possible to disable the blinking light while in sleep mode.

Hi,
Use hibernation mode. Review this Geek-How-To article.
If you need additional information then review this MS posted information on system power states.
I use hibernation mode on my PC and it does turn off the blue flashing light.

I tried hibernating.
In order for it to work and show up in the shutdown menu I had to disable "allow hybrid sleep."
However, hibernate is too much like powering down, e.g. once hibernating, I need to press the power on button to resume Windows.
Maybe hybrid sleep allows for hibernating but also resuming in the same manner from a sleeping computer, e.g. pressing any key?
I think I'll just power it down since hibernating doesn't seem to be much faster, but does have the benefit of resuming unsaved work.
Thanks for the suggestion,
SM

Hi,
I just have to press the space bar for my PC to exit from hibernation. And, no blue blinking light.

I don't use hybrid sleep.

Thanks for confirming, I double checked and still need to press power to recover from hibernation.
When hybrid sleep is enabled, hibernate is no longer an option in the shutdown menu.
