Product: Storage Works MSA60
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)
I have an HP drive enclosure MSA60 currently configured with 4 1TB drives arranged in a Raid 5 array. I want to add additional 1TB drives to this, I have plenty of empty slots. Question is, if I add a drive or 2, is the array usable while it's rebuilding itself? I get time estimates of 15 minutes per GB, that equates to about 12 days for a TB, so an unusable array is not an option. The controller is a Smart Array P411, the server is an HP Proliant ML350G6 running Server 2008 R2, drives in the array are hot pluggable SATA. I get conflicting answers if I Google this question.
