Hello, I am looking for the Realtek ALC888S driver for Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
I have an old Compaq dx2400 MT PC with Asus IPIBL-LB mother board but this PC does not support this operating system, so maybe another driver might help to do the trick.
Currently I have installed the driver but the R275 Realtek Audio Manager does not appear. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
Carlos.

Hi, Carlos:
I would try the latest driver directly from Realtek.
Accept the agreement.
DL and install the second driver on the list.
You can also try this older driver. This model has the same Realtek audio chip as yours (different motherboard) but has W7 x64 drivers.

Hello Mr. Paul, thank you very much for your prompt response, two things:
I have already installed your first recommendation.
Unfortunately, your second recommendation does not work, it throws me an error (0001).
I was thinking maybe this is because the BIOS is not updated, so please help me to find the BIOS update for Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit to my Compaq dx2400.
Thanks again.
Best regards.
Carlos.

You're very welcome, Carlos.
There are no BIOS updates for your model other than the one for Vista 32 bit which you can't run on W7 64 bit.
I do have another idea though...
I found this consumer model with the same motherboard as yours, same audio chip, and it has a driver for W7 x64.
Maybe this one will work...
I would not risk flashing your PC's BIOS with the one listed for this model even though it appears it might work.
Because if it doesn't, you will end up with a doorstop.
Besides, there is no mention of the BIOS update doing anything for the audio.
Best Regards,
Paul

Thank you again Mr. Paul, I'm very glad for your great support and patience.
Unfortunately still not working, again the same error code 0001.
I'm resigned to not being able to separate the audio from my headphones:
I understand that dx2400 is too old. By the way, I also tried with the dx7500 driver without success.
Thank you infinitely.
Best regards.
Carlos.

Anytime, Carlos.
Glad to have been of assistance.
There is one more thing you can try with that last driver and that is to see if you can manually install it.
To do that, go to the device manager and click on the Realtek HD audio device. Select Uninstall and also check the uninstall driver box and reboot the PC
You want the PC to load the standard Windows HD audio driver (or no audio driver and the multimedia audio controller is listed).
Then see if you can manually install the last driver I posted for the same motherboard yours has.
Go to the device manager and click on the HD audio device. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file. That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp44380.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
If not, then I give up too.

Hello Mr. Paul, that I've tried too, so thanks for your intention to help.
Now for my work I can not go on, so it's just a detail, of course it would be more correct to have the Realtek's Audio Manager enabled, maybe later I'll try again (although I know that this model is not very common today) and if I find the solution I will return here to post it for someone else.
Thank you infinitely.
Best regards.
Carlos.
