DVD-RAM GH80N
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi, I just bought a new HP desktop (HP Compaq 8200 Elite Small Form Factor PC), and I am unable to use the CD/DVD drive. It appears in the Device Manager, but it is not recognized by Windows (Windows 7 64-bit), and doesn't recognize disks. I tried updating the driver automatically and Windows tells me the driver is already installed.

Thanks in advance.

Hi:

That is correct.  There are no special drivers required for the DVD.  I have the same model and my DVD drive has always worked fine and never needed drivers for any of the operating systems I have run on it and that includes XP through Windows 10.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to go through each of the resolutions listed at the link below and see if one of those resolves the problem.

The 8200 elite may be new to you, but the model series is already over 4 years old.
