I tried a Samsung M2.SATA in a 800G1. Did not work. I tried a SAMSUNG 951 (PCIe NVMe) which did not work either. Devices don't show up in the BIOS. This data contradicts your information. Which device does one need, PCIe non-NVMe??

Sorry it's not working for you Danny.

My Samsung 950 Pro M.2 shows up in the BIOS under legacy HDD devices.

Please note that I do not have the spindle HDD connected.

What OS are you trying to install?

It doesn't matter which OS. All that's required is for it show up in the BIOS.

Have you verified that the m.2 devices are AHCI? That is the supported interface in the G1.

Nvme is only supported in G2 and later.

That will be the key to solving your problem.
