Find a different technician.

Tell us if you are using a "wired" connection to the Internet, or a "wireless" connection.

The problem is that your computer is not properly connected to the Internet.

A "DNS-server" is a computer that responds to queries.

Your computer sends a D(omain) N(ame) -- for example, 'www.google.com' to that "server", and it returns the IP-address assigned to that name.

1. Hold down the Windows key (bottom-left corner) of your keyboard.

2. Press/release the 'R' key.

3. Release the Windows key.

4. Into the "input-box" that appears, type:   CMD   and press ENTER.

5. Into the window that opens, type:  NSLOOKUP www.google.com  and press ENTER.

You should get output like:

Server:  google-public-dns-a.google.com
Address:  8.8.8.8

Name:    www.google.com
Addresses:  2607:f8b0:400a:808::2004
          172.217.3.164

On your computer, do you see a 'Server:' line, or do you see an error-message?

Tell us what you see.

6. Into that same window, type   IPCONFIG  /ALL   and press ENTER.

Tell us what you see.

It should lists one or more DNS-servers (just their IP-addresses),

and the IP-address assigned to your computer,

and the "gateway" IP-address -- the "gateway" between your "private" network and the whole Internet.

Sample:

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

   Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
   DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
   Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.120(Preferred)
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : February-16-17 09:46:10 AM
   Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : February-20-17 08:00:56 PM
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
   DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

   DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 8.8.4.4
