Hello. I had an issue restarting my computer and ended up resetting to the original factory condition without backing up anything. For some reason I thought it was restoring to an earlier checkpoint, not a full reset. All of my pictures, documents, favorites are gone. :womansad: My computer is working perfectly fine, with the exception of my lost files. Is there anyway possible to recover all of my files? If possible, can I do it myself or do I have to bring it into a place like Geek Squad? Hoping I can save my files and money by fixing myself. Thank you very much for your help!

@ jsaphir and angela823,
When doing a factory restore the hard drive partition is formatted, and the OS and software is written to the partition. Formatting the drive will, at a minimum, erase all the file tables, pointers, etc. that hold information on the file's structure. When the operating system and software are installed, it may overwrite many of the previous files that were on the computer. By this time it is hard to recovery your files and everytime you use your computer, recovery your old files bcomes more difficult. About the only effective way to recover your files is to use an expense data recovery service.

If your computer is running on Windows 7or Windows 8, you can check the "file history" in " control panel". You may find some backup, but you have done a resetting, I think the hope is small. Anyway, the last way to recover lost pictures, documeny from computer is recovery program. I ever used a tool named Tenorshare Data Recovery Pro to recover files from my Windows 7 computer, I think you can have a try, get it here: http://download.cnet.com/Tenorshare-Data-Recovery-Professional/3000-2242_4-75811363.html
