First time to use the HP DeskJet 3758 put check through to copy but discovered printer was reading blank area around check as black so I immedated interrupted the copying to prevent waste of black ink. Fixed check to 8 1/2 x 11 blank white page . Turned printer on and off to reset. Tried copying check again, now on 81/2 x 11 white sheet. But printer only prints/ copies top 1/2 inch of page. Will not print full 81/2 x 11 page with check afixed. HAve tried everything. HP Support, etc. Nothing works. No copy function.

@TXWriter

Thank you for joining HP Forums.}

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand you are using the HP Deskjet 3758 and the copier doesn't seem to work,

No worries as I'd love to help, however, I need a few more details to provide an accurate solution:

Did you attempt cleaning the ADF rollers and the scanner glass?

Did you make any changes to the copy settings?

If not, here are a few things you can do:

Step 1: Clean the scanner

Fingerprints, smudges, dust, or debris on the scanner glass, under the scanner lid, or in the document feed slot can cause lines and color bands. Clean these parts with a soft, lint-free cloth sprayed with glass cleaner.

Step 2: Clean the ADF rollers

Dust or paper residue on the rollers or separator pad inside the automatic document feeder (ADF) can result in copy quality issues. Open the ADF, and then clean the ADF rollers and separator pad.

Step 3: Change the copy settings

Changing the copy settings, if available, might improve copy quality. Not all printers have the option to change copy quality settings, and some printers have more or less quality options. For specific steps, refer to the printer user guide on HP.com.

Hi Riddle_Decipher,

Thanks for taking the tme to reply. It turns out that the scanner function is not working correctly. After working hours wth HP and on our own, it was determined that our brand new HP Deskjet 3758 is defective and HP is picking up and replacing the printer with the same model. Do you have any further suggestions or tips for using the world's smallest printer? This is a new system unlike the regular copy-print-scan DeskJets with copy/ scan bed. In otherwords, documents are fed into the printer rather than laid out on a bed. Do you have tips for copying smaller documents, such as checks, that are not 8 1/2 x 11?  Tips for copying several checks at one time? Does this printer copy without scanning first? Or always scan first and then copy?

Thanks for your help.

Given that the printer is "brand-new", personally, I would have been quicker to exercise the "warranty",

either by taking it back to the retail store where I bought it, or by clicking the "Contact HP" link at the bottom of this page.

Take one of: http://www.staples.ca/en/Staples-Standard-Clear-Sheet-Protectors-100-Pack/product_40713_2-CA_1_20001

and insert the document/cheques into this envelope, and scan, to see if the scanner can see "through" the clear cover.

I don't understand how it could possibly start "copying" before finishing the "scanning".

The scanner component is probably much faster at data-capture than the printer component is at printing.

So, it must "buffer" the scan, until it completes, and then start the printing.
